In a Korean community forum post, a Samsung representative confirmed that more of the company’s old phones will receive the One UI 6.1 update with Galaxy AI. The update is said to roll out in “early May,” and devices dating back to 2021 will be eligible. However, not every feature will be available on these old smartphones.

More About the One UI 6.1 Rollout On Older Samsung Galaxy Phones

Samsung’s One UI 6.1 has just rolled out to last-gen devices. With this, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, Tab S9 lineup, and Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 5 smartphones have a decent number of Galaxy AI features. What was interesting about this rollout is that the Galaxy S23 FE also got the update. For those wondering, it sports a SoC that’s more than two years old now.

That made many believe that older Samsung Galaxy devices had what it takes to run the features. Well, it seems that the speculations were on the right track, as Samsung has just confirmed the One UI 6.1 update with Galaxy AI for old devices came out in 2021.

To be specific, Galaxy AI is coming to the Galaxy S21, Z Flip 3, and Z Fold 3, all of which are from 2021. However, they will only get two features: Chat Assist and Circle to Search. As for the devices from 2022, they are set to get all the features except the Instant Slow-mo for videos. These phones include Galaxy S22, Z Flip 4, Z Fold 4, and the Tab S8 lineup.

Regarding when Samsung will be rolling out the One UI 6.1 update, the representative confirmed an “early May” window. This update for the older devices could also come bundled with a monthly Android security patch.
